About Auburn PA

I just created this blog to give a little insight into the small town of Auburn, Pennsylvania. I will add posts and photos as time permits.

  1. I grew up in Auburn during the 50′s & 60′s. There were e
grocery stores on Main St:Heffner’s, Geeseman’s and Annie
Schultz’s. There was also Park Deibert’s on Bear Creek St.
Remember Patchy’s on Orchard St. Steffy’s Luncheonette on
Main St., which became Naftzinger’s. That building used to
house Seigfried’s Barber Shop, I think. Remember when the Reading still had passenger trains? If you wanted to ride
the Reading, you had to stand next to the tracks at the old train depot, or the train wouldn’t stop. It was a great place to grow up.

  2. I was real young when some of those places were still in business. My dad remembers them all.
I do remember the passenger trains that ran through.

I wish more shops and businesses would be downtown again. Maybe even just a small mini market.

  3. I am looking for a contact with the Auburn Historical Society; my grandmother and her twin sister grew up in the area during the depression. She is a folk art painter and has panted many scenes (from her memory) of growing up in rural Auburn, PA, during the depression. Any help anyone can provide would be great!

    Thank,
    Dustin
